Positive Behaviour Support

Supporting behaviour, building understanding, improving lives.

Positive Behaviour Support

Our approach is person-centred, collaborative, and focused on enhancing the quality of life for every participant.

At Shear Community Services, our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services are led by an NDIS Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner who works closely with individuals, families, and support teams to understand behaviours of concern and build safe, respectful, and effective strategies for change.

how we can help

  • Initial Behaviour Assessment

We begin by getting to know the individual—their environment, routines, communication style, and the behaviour itself—to understand the function or purpose behind behaviours of concern.

  • Collaborative & Inclusive Approach

We work closely with families, carers, support workers, and other professionals, ensuring everyone is on the same page and confident in their role.

  • Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP)

Our team develops a detailed, personalised PBSP that includes:

Proactive strategies to reduce behaviours of concern

Practical, strengths-based tools to promote positive behaviours

Clear guidance tailored to real-life environments and support needs

  • Training & Capacity Building

We provide training to participants, families, and stakeholders so everyone involved feels informed, confident, and equipped to implement the plan successfully.

  • Ongoing Support & Intervention

Behaviour support isn’t a one-off—we offer ongoing therapeutic intervention, regular check-ins, and plan updates as needed, to ensure lasting outcomes and continued growth.

At its core, our PBS work is about understanding—not punishing—behaviour, and creating safe, supportive environments where individuals can thrive.

"All behaviour is a form of communication. When we listen with understanding, we can respond with compassion, not control."
